Gerlie Ubarco 4th Grade

Gerlie Ubarco is a Filipina born on December 13, 1975 in Dulag, Leyte, Philippines. She has 2 daughters; Verlie Joanne, 10 years old, and Ivy Joyce who is 9 years old. They inspire her to love teaching and to treat kids as her own children.
Gerlie has earned the degrees of Bachelor in Elementary Education, and Master of Arts in Teaching. Gerlie has also completed the academic requirements of Doctor of Arts from the Leyte Normal University of Tacloban City, Philippines. Recently, Gerlie earned 18 units in Master of Arts in Special Education from the Leyte Normal University also.
For 12 years Gerlie has taught in the largest elementary school in Dulag South District, Dulag, Leyte, Philippines and taught the Grade 4 and Grade 6 classes. Gerlie has also taught as a part time lecturer at the Eastern Visayas State University Dulag Campus for 6 years. In 2006, Gerlie was given the chance to teach for 9 months as an Oral English Teacher at two middle schools in Yuncheng, Shanxi, China. Recently, Gerlie returned to the Philippines as a Grade 2 teacher of the mentally gifted class at the best school in their district, Dulag SPED Center.
For Gerlie, traveling and knowing others' culture enriches her knowledge and competence in teaching. Gerlie loves singing, dancing, and playing guitar. Gerlie wants to be a lawyer, also. Given the chance to teach in Arizona is one of the best opportunities and greatest challenges in her life as a teacher.
